Red, pink and gold floral arrangements helped to make the church bright and welcoming. Gold colour and glitter added a seasonal and festive note. Indeed, one of the gifts of the three wise men to baby Jesus was gold.
Red carnations, chrysanthemums and red glitter twigs helped to provide the red colour while the golden touch came from using gold ruscus, fir cones and glitter twigs. Evergreen ivy was also used though holly (as in the Christmas carol – The Holly and the Ivy) was avoided in this instance due to its prickly nature! In the porch and at the entrance to the church, pink gerberas, roses and ornamental cabbages were used together with the festive gold foliage and decorations.
The window ledges continued the red theme with red amaryllis in tall pots. Small poinsettia plants with glitter on their leaves found a home at the base of the pots. White candles next to them gave off a mellow light throughout the church services.
The flower team – Doris, Jennie, Lucy, Marilyn, Patsy and Sue would like to express their grateful thanks for the donations which allowed the church to be beautifully decorated with floral arrangements over Christmas.
Loved ones and happy occasions may be remembered and celebrated with floral arrangements in church. Flower team members would be happy to help.
