The Harvest Eucharist with the traditional harvest lunch to follow afterwards was held on Sunday 1st October 2017. The food and knitted items brought into church by members of the congregation reflected a bountiful harvest. These items were displayed at the altar and were blessed by Fr Nicholas. They would all be put to good use in our community kitchen or at a local food bank or at PAFRAS.
We give God grateful thanks for the treasures of a good harvest. However, we are reminded in Corinthians that “Life is more than food and the body more than clothing”. Earthly treasures are short lived unlike the everlasting treasures shared with God.
After the service, members of the congregation enjoyed the harvest ‘Bring and Share’ lunch which was abundant and delicious. The array of dishes included chicken, macaroni cheese, a range of salads and a mouth-watering selection of cakes.
Altogether, it was a rewarding and enjoyable Harvest Eucharist and lunch. Our heartfelt thanks go to all who contributed to its success.
