St Martin’s Outreach Project has been running since May 2010. Each month, we visit two or three streets in our parish, distributing cards to let people know that we are praying for them. We also distribute parish magazines. We don’t knock on doors but we do chat to passers-by: we often see people we know, and sometimes people have recognized clergy from baptisms and funerals.
We then pray for people in those streets at our monthly prayer services and in our private prayers. We occasionally mention these streets in our main services, in intercessions. The cards invite people to get in touch with the clergy if they would like us to pray for anything in particular, or if they would like to know more about us.
