Shrove Tuesday was on Tuesday 13th February this year. The pancake evening was well attended with the Sunday Club children, family and friends being well represented.
The pancakes were delicious and were served with a wide variety of toppings. We were invited to eat as many pancakes as we liked, much to the delight of some children who seemed able to consume an inexhaustible supply or so it seemed to those of us with less flexible digestive systems.
The highlight of the evening which provided lots of entertainment was the tossing of the pancakes. Prizes were awarded to the persons who could best toss and safely catch their pancakes in the frying pan from which they had been launched. Many hopefuls tossed their pancakes beautifully but getting them back into the frying pan without them landing unexpectedly on the floor or other parts of the room was a different matter. The ceiling being fairly high escaped a pancake decoration!
Many thanks go to the pancake evening organisers and the pancake producers. These stalwarts included Caroline, Pam, Georgette, Kim, Apostol, Joe, Shemaiah, Kaidenn and indeed all who helped to make the evening such an enjoyable and filling one.
