With the brightly coloured pennants streaming out and the steels pans of the Silver Sparrows flooding the building with energy, our stewardship campaign reached a triumphant conclusion on Alleluia Sunday. It was a great celebration of the many outstanding stewards at St Martin’s, an enthusiastic welcome to those joining the team and a rededication all our giving.
As the results come in, it is good to be able to report that 13 people have committed for pray regularly for St Martins, 3 have signed up for the prayer group/bible study and there are another 3 volunteers joining the team.
On the financial side, 8 people have increased their giving, 3 people have asked for envelopes and 2 are now giving through standing orders and one-time donations amounted to £570. All this means that regular weekly giving has increased by £40 per week.
Stewardship is a time for rejoicing. We are thankful for all that God gives us, we are thankful that we belong to the worldwide family of Christ and to the family of St Martin’s in particular. So, as the campaign closes, (stewardship itself is an ongoing vocation – but you knew that!) I want to express my gratitude to you all for taking part with such enthusiasm and hope that it has given you a renewed sense of purpose in our common commitment to ministry in our church community and in our neighbourhood.
Finally, on behalf of us all, I want to express our heartfelt thanks to our old friend, Revd Jeff King for his rousing words and to Victoria Jaquiss and the Silver Sparrows. We loved having you.
