The Sunday Club meets at 10am on Sunday in the Sunday Club room in the Institute. Any child from the age of 4 years is welcome.
The Sunday Club meetings open with a prayer and lighting of the candle, following this the children pass around a stone and when it is their turn they tell us something that they want to share from the previous week. Sometimes the stone can take a very long time to go around the table!
The bible lesson is then taught (in many different ways) and is usually followed by an activity e.g. craft, drama, singing. Towards the end of the session the children prepare what they are going to say in church. We then join the main service just before the communion so that the children can receive a blessing.
Following the communion it is the Sunday Club’s turn to present what they have learnt. They speak into the microphone in front of the church and they all enjoy this. They do not have to participate if they don’t want to but usually they are very keen to have the microphone and to say their bit!
The Sunday Club present a Christmas Carnival every year celebrating the birth of Jesus, the preparation for this starts at the beginning of September. We also have a Christmas party every year which is great fun.
St Martin’s Church has a strict Safeguarding Children’s Policy and all Sunday Club Leaders have been subject to an enhanced DBS check.
